Find out about research
Where do medicines come from? How do we
discover the treatments that doctors give to patients? How do we
know what’s the best way to keep your heart healthy?
We all rely on the hard work of
scientists to come up with the knowledge we need to look
after our bodies and help sick people get better.
Every therapy that doctors use takes many years of careful research
to learn what’s going wrong in our bodies, how we
can spot the warning signs, how we can fix the problem and which
treatment works best.
All this work is
expensive! Most of the heart research in Britain is funded
by the BHF. So the money that pays for the sophisticated equipment,
the colourful chemicals and the scientists’ wages comes from the
kind donations of BHF supporters.
Today, the BHF is supporting over
1,000 scientists, looking for the next medical
breakthrough!
